The Texas Trails Bassmasters held our twelfth tournament of the 2008 – 2009 season at Lake Fork on October 3. Nine members fished this event. The season-ending championship will be held at Lake of the Pines in November. Due to a scheduling irregularity, the first tournament of the 2009 – 2010 fishing season will also be held at Lake of the Pines, coinciding with the second day of the championship event. This would be a great time for new members to come aboard.
Don Overstreet took first place with five fish weighing 5.66 pounds on a day when bigger fish were tough to catch. He also had the big bass of the day at 1.98 pounds, edging Jake Dollison’s 1.95 largemouth. Jake also took second place with five fish weighing 5.38 pounds. Lew Conder captured third with a limit weighing 3.94 pounds. Jim Canon, Don Hampton and Albert Jordan also brought five fish limits to the scales.
The nine anglers brought a total of 35 bass weighing 28.19 pounds to the weigh-in. The average weight was .81 pounds.
